WOOSTER -- Citing safety concerns and the possibility of a
negative economic impact, the Wayne County commissioners have asked a
state transportation official to reconsider the chip-and-seal project
on state Route 3, and instead, pave the road.
As part of a pavement management plan, officials at the Ohio
Department of Transportation's District 3 office in Ashland have
begun using the chip seal process as a less expensive way to extend
the life of roads in its eight-county area.
The chip seal project on state Route 3 south of Wooster has drawn
criticism from citizens, business owners and elected officials.
