The name of billionaire hotel owner Jay Pritzker resurfaced
yesterday as a possible suitor for Eastern Air Lines as attorneys for
the carrier, its unions and creditors huddled behind closed doors to
discuss ways of getting the strike-crippled airline flying again.
The meetings, held over four floors of a midtown Manhattan law
firm, follow the collapse of a deal by former baseball commissioner
Peter V. Ueberroth to buy the airline from Eastern parent Texas Air
Corp.
A representative of Pritzker, who once owned Braniff Inc., was
said to have attended a meeting of Eastern's creditors yesterday.
Among other things, the creditors heard from Goldman Sachs, the
investment firm they retained ...
