Brent Sipe, head golf professional at Moraine Country Club, was looking through one of the club's old golf registration books recently when he came across a name that caught his eye like no other.

Registered as a golfing guest at Moraine on Sept. 14, 1933, was Francis Ouimet of Brighton, Mass.

The thought of 1913 U.S. Open champion Francis Ouimet playing golf at Moraine was not far-fetched because Ouimet was a good friend of Moraine golf professional Alex "Nipper" Campbell, who prepped him for his shocking U.S. Open triumph when he (Campbell) was pro at The Country Club in Brookline.

If there were any question as to whether this was the Francis Ouimet, a check of the Daily News microfilm ...
