Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and his wife called a news conference
yesterday to defend an unusual 1984 book promotion partnership
financed mostly by Gingrich campaign donors, but Marianne Gingrich
became so upset by skeptical questioning of the deal that she walked
out.
Newt Gingrich, whose formal complaint last year set in motion the
investigation of House Speaker Jim Wright's unusually high 55 percent
book royalty agreement, tried to show how his book deal differed from
the one central to the House ethics committee's charges against
Wright.
Wright (D-Tex.) has been accused of violating House rules by
selling his 1984 book, "Reflections of a Public Man," in bulk to
lobbyists and interest ...
