Northwest Airlines and the union for its 5,600 baggage handlers
reached a tentative agreement on wage and benefit cuts, prompting a
judge to delay ruling on the carrier's request to void the existing
contract. Terms of the agreement weren't disclosed, and members of

closing arguments on the airline's request to scrap the current
contract and impose new terms that would save $87 million a year.
