Dance company loses some great performers, gains others

DAYTON - The Dayton Ballet's most experienced male performer has decided to move on after eight seasons, in part because he hopes to dance again with another former company member.

Sasha Janes, 33, who gave his final performance with the Dayton Ballet on last Sunday, has signed a one-year contract with the North Carolina Dance Theatre in Charlotte, where Rebecca Carmazzi is completing her second year.

Janes and Carmazzi, who left the Dayton Ballet three years ago, were the 1999 winners of the Josie Award for best dancers in Dayton.
