MIAMI - For Adam Dunn, batting leadoff Sunday for the Cincinnati Reds was a professional first, but not a career first. His coach at New Caney (Texas) High School did it for self-preservation.

"I did it a lot in high school after my sophomore year," Dunn said. "During the regional tournament my sophomore year one team intentionally walked me five times in an 11-inning game. I was 1 for 1 in 11 innings and it was a joke. After that my coach batted me leadoff so I'd get at least one at-bat in the first inning of every game when they wouldn't walk me."
