Stone Bridge faced a rare scare from a Virginia AAA Liberty
District opponent last night, but scored three times in the fifth and
sixth innings to beat W.T. Woodson, 7-3, in one semifinal of the
district tournament at Langley.
The host school edged Madison, 4-3, in the night's second
semifinal. All four semifinalists advanced to next week's Northern
Region tournament; Stone Bridge (21-0) is the region's only unbeaten
team.
Stone Bridge, playing its first season at AAA, got a clutch double
by sophomore catcher Kayla Lechler with one out in the fifth to break
a 2-2 tie.
