HEIGHTS GETS $23,000 GRANT; MORE ON WAY

Money to benefit fire, police departments

HUBER HEIGHTS - The Huber Heights police and fire departments won nearly $23,000 in special grants and city officials are confident of receiving two more grants amounting to slightly more than $52,000.

The awarded grants include $12,726 from the Ohio State Board of EMS and $10,000 from Purude Pharmaceutical, the maker of OxyContin. The grants being sought include $40,000 from the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation and $12,101 from the Federal Bureau of Justice Assistance Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program.

Authority to accept and apply for the grants was granted last week by the Huber Heights City Council.
