Cut herself, ripped clothing to back accusation

XENIA - A 24-year-old Xenia woman cut herself with a knife and ripped her own clothing early Sunday before calling police to falsely report she had been sexually assaulted behind Xenia Station, Xenia police said.

Danielle Rowland was arrested Tuesday and charged with making false statements and obstructing justice.

It was not clear if Rowland would remain in Greene County Jail or when she would be arraigned.

Lt. Scott Anger said false allegations diminished the seriousness of the crime, particularly one as serious as rape.

"This type of thing takes up a lot of our time, time we could spend on other things," he said.
