The latest entry in negative political advertising has arrived at
the homes of 300,000 New Jersey Democrats: cereal boxes attacking
Rep. James J. Florio, the front-runner in the race for the Democratic
nomination to be New Jersey governor.
The bright yellow, green and red cereal boxes, said to contain
"Florio's," mock Florio as a packaged candidate, mushy on the issues
and the captive of political bosses and interest groups, such as the
gun lobby and auto insurance companies.
The boxes and accompanying radio and television advertisements
built around the same theme are courtesy of the campaign of state
Assemblyman Alan Karcher, who, along with Princeton Mayor Barbara
Boggs Sigmund, is ...
