The Simple, One-Size Shades of Gray

Vernard Gray makes no claims about being a fashion designer. A photographer, yes. A video artist, yes. A gallery director-that, too. But when he wanted the Miya Gallery to go more functional, he had a hard time getting artists to cooperate. "Typically artists don't want to do anything on a mass-produced manner," explains Gray.

So Gray decided to take on the project himself. About five years back he started with chemical warfare pants with drawstring waist and cuffs. "They were made in the 1950s and eventually the stock ran out," said Gray. He'd sell them again if he could get them.
