Stores offer dresses off rack, others must be ordered

In the 30 years Jessica McClintock has been designing wedding gowns, she's seen the industry change from women ordering custom gowns that cost thousands of dollars to brides buying dresses off the rack for much less.

There was a time when a woman would spend as much as $10,000 on a custom wedding gown. In the 1970s, McClintock said women shifted to ready-to-wear dresses off the rack, like the muslin Jessica McClintock design U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-New York, wore when she married her husband, former President Bill Clinton in 1975.

In recent years, McClintock said the industry has come to rest
