Prelude to series gets under way Oct. 21 at UD

DAYTON - The University of Dayton will launch a free lecture series next semester to examine the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic church and its impact on the life of the church.

A prelude to the series begins this month when the Rev. James Heft, University professor of faith and culture, presents "The Sexual Abuse Crisis: A Case for Greater Shared Authority in the Roman Catholic Church" at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 in the Mathias Heck Courtroom in Keller Hall.

Plans call for the lecture series, sponsored by the president's office, department of religious studies and campus ministry, to take place over three semesters, beginning this winter.
