Work insinuates itself in our lives in myriad ways
DAYTON - In a 24-hour day, actual time spent on the job has been
increasing. But if you take into account the hours spent thinking
about your job, being defined by your roles in life and the public
vs. the private persona that must be kept up, work becomes a much
bigger portion of the pie-chart.
Gender, obsession and time are a few of the issues about work
tackled by "WORKart," the new exhibition at the Dayton Visual Arts
Center. John Benvenuto of Dayton, Lisa Schare of Cincinnati and Leah
Oates of New York City put their spin on work issues using realism,
visual metaphors and iconographic references in mixed-media
sculpture, digital prints ...
