Shelter changes long overdue
Kudos to the Montgomery County commissioners and County
Administrator Deborah Feldman. Their decision to relieve two top
administrators of their duties at the Montgomery County Animal
Shelter was way overdue.
The problems identified in the recent investigation of the shelter
have been known to the animal-friendly community for a long time. Our
taxpayer-funded shelter does not, unfortunately, function as a true
`shelter' - a place for animals to be protected from danger. In
reality, it is nothing more than a `holding tank' for companion
animals whose lives are about to be extinguished if not adopted by a
loving ...
