WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery County - It was only the second game
of the season, but for Miami Valley and Oakwood the outcome of
Saturday's boys soccer clash will echo into October. That's when
teams earn seeds for the district tournament.
Playing in sweltering conditions and hindered by two lightning
delays, the host Rams outdueled the Lumberjacks 5-1 in a contest
featuring the last two Division III Dayton I district champions. It
was the first time the teams had played since 2000.
`Actually the last three days we've preached this game as being
important to seeding,' Oakwood coach Chris Rowe said. `We only play
