Just second time not playing center

SAN FRANCISCO - For only the second time in his career, Ken Griffey Jr. was not in center field Wednesday night when he was playing a defensive position at the start of a game.

Griffey was in right field, the position his father played for the Cincinnati Reds.

`My dad told me how to cover the little circle I'll be covering in right field,' Griffey said with a smile before Wednesday night's game against the San Francisco Giants, his first game activity since he partially tore his right hamstring July 11 and missed 18 games.

The only other time he was not in center field was on Aug. 22, 2002, when he was coming off an injury and manager Bob Boone stuck him ...
