COLUMBUS -- Ohioans will pick a U.S. senator and four state
Supreme Court justices Tuesday, and decide whether to change the
state constitution to ban certain legal benefits going to unmarried
couples.
State Issue One is a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay
marriage and civil unions and prohibit government from extending some
legal rights to unmarried couples -- gay and straight.
If it passes, it'll be one of the most restrictive and far-
reaching measures against gay marriage in the country, according to
the Human Rights Campaign.
It could also take away legal rights enjoyed by unmarried couples
now, such as inheritance, property rights, hospital visits and
maternity leave, ...
