CHICAGO -- Monty Python and the Holy Grail ranks among my all-
time favorite films, so when tickets went on sale for the pre-
Broadway world premiere of a musical stage version, I pounced like a
vicious killer rabbit.
Monty Python's Spamalot is a hilarious stage spectacular "lovingly
ripped off" from the motion picture by Eric Idle with the blessing of
his fellow former Pythons.
Idle wrote the book and composed the music and lyrics with
longtime collaborator John Du Prez.
The show, which runs through Jan. 23 at Chicago's Shubert Theater
before moving next month to New York City, is directed by Mike
Nichols and stars Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce and Hank Azaria.
