BATS! Misunderstood mammals are a lot better than their reputation

THERE MAY BE BATS IN YOUR HOUSE RIGHT NOW!! Their super-sharp ears may have picked up the rustling as you opened this newspaper, and if they wanted to they could dive-bomb your head at this very instant!

"Bats in houses are probably more common than you might think," said Mike Dulaney of the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. "Out of every 100 houses, you're probably going to find bats in at least one or two. They roost in attics and eaves in the spring and summer, and if you watch you may see them coming out at sunset."

Not to worry, though. Bats aren't dangerous; in fact they're really helpful, Dulaney said.
