DAYTON -- A year ago, the district president of Sky Bank thought
it fitting to celebrate the large loan he had just approved for Denny
Livesay so he could purchase Dayton-based Progressive Printers.
Anticipating handshakes in some plush office, Tim Pittman was
taken aback when he came to find that Livesay's office was little
more than a closet.
"His sales people, his accounting people -- they had all the
offices," Pittman said. "He spent his time either out on the streets
or back in the press room. That's very impressive."
Livesay, indomitable yet so intensely humble that he publicly
praises his 53 employees, is an approachable case study of hands-on
business leadership.
