Garst Museum opens Annie Oakley Center Two rooms, hallway feature items, info on sharpshooter

GREENVILLE -- The Annie Oakley collection at the Garst Museum recently received a museum makeover.

The newly painted walls, additional lighting, life-size photo reproductions, and expanded space might make many previous visitors think they're seeing parts of the collection for the first time.

On Friday, July 29, the Garst Museum opened the Annie Oakley Center. The display, that encompasses two rooms and a hallway, tells the story of Darke County's most famous daughter.

"This is certainly the largest public collection of Annie Oakley material," curator Dr. Paul Fees said. "It is also one of the most significant."
