BEAVERCREEK -- When will lawn mowers be smart enough to mow the
lawn by themselves -- without also mowing the flowers, the cat or
anything else that might be in its path?
Help is on the way. The second annual Autonomous Lawn Mower
competition was held at Rotary Park in Beavercreek in early June.
Engineering schools from around the country competed to win honors
and cash for the best robot lawn mower.
The winner, for the second year in a row, was Ohio University.
Illinois Institute of Technology was second, up from third place last
year. Miami University was second place last year, but did not place
this year because of a hardware failure.
