The stakes were raised dramatically yesterday in the 21-month
test of wills between Elizabeth Morgan and D.C. Superior Court Judge
Herbert B. Dixon Jr. when Robert M. Morgan, an assistant U.S.
attorney, joined his older sister in open defiance of the court.
Robert Morgan, who testified yesterday after failing to quash a
subpoena, refused 26 direct orders from Dixon to answer questions put
to him by an attorney for Eric A. Foretich, his sister's former
husband. Dixon, reminding Morgan pointedly that he could be jailed
for contempt of court, excused him from the courtroom with an
admonition to report any change of address or employment.
