A lifetime of excellent posture has served Mary Catherine Stewart very well.

At age 98, her stance is nearly as straight as when she retired from education nearly 40 years ago. Her blue eyes are sharp, as are her mind and memory.

Stewart touched the lives of thousands of people in her years in the Dayton Public Schools, and although she was born when her parents were living out of state, her memories of Dayton include events during the Great Flood of 1913.

The daughter of George B. and Mary Etta Needles Stewart, Mary Catherine Sewart was born on Christmas Eve 1907, although she was due on Christmas Day.
