PARK CITY, Utah -- Art schools are a "microcosm of weirdos," said cartoonist and screenwriter Daniel Clowes.

Clowes draws on his own experience for Art School Confidential, a dark comedy that reunites him with Ghost World director Terry Zwigoff.

Art School Confidential, which made its world premiere at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, opens today in Dayton.

"The people who go to art school are the misfits from their community, their high school," Clowes said in an interview for the film at Sundance. "Then they migrate to this central location where it's now all weirdos making up this microcosm of weirdos, and they're all kind of floundering for what is their new role in that society."
