Yellow Springs senior Sam Borchers is just happy to have a week
off.
Borchers won his first national event on Sunday, taking the Young
Men's 1,500 meters in 3:55.58 at the USA Track and Field Junior
Olympic Championships at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md.
Earlier this season he finished third in the 1,500-meter run in a
time of 3:46.32 at the USA Track and Field Junior Nationals. "It
feels pretty good," said Borchers, who runs for the Miami Valley
Track Club. "I'm just glad the track season is over, really."
Borchers said he felt strong going into the race.
"I thought I had a pretty good chance of winning," Borchers said.
