DAYTON -- On average, one Ohioan dies every other day waiting for
an organ, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing.
Five Dayton-area hospitals and Life Connection of Ohio hope to end
that trend through a new statewide effort called the Ohio Organ
Donation Breakthrough Initiative.
Good Samaritan, Miami Valley and Middletown Regional, as well as
Kettering and Children's medical centers and Life Connection have
joined 23 other hospitals and three other organ procurement agencies
statewide in the initiative, sponsored by the Ohio Hospital
Association.
