Article: Mendelson to retire; outlet operations to be consolidated, relocated

DAYTON -- Sandy Mendelson, whose hulking downtown building houses Mendelsons Liquidation Outlet, is retiring and will consolidate and relocate operations to a smaller location.

Mendelson on Thursday announced his retirement after 42 years in the retail business. He is a partner in the outlet store founded by his father, Harry Mendelson, in 1960 as an electronics surplus outlet.

The store expanded to include industrial buyouts, business liquidations and, eventually, Internet closeout sales. Its motto: "The first place to look for every last thing."
