LAKELAND, Fla. -- Cincinnati Reds manager Jerry Narron has thought
it over from every angle -- "and I've not taken it lightly" -- and he
has come to a decision that Ken Griffey Jr. will play right field
when he returns.
"I have to do what I feel is best for the club, and I feel under
the current circumstances that our best defense up the middle will be
Alex Gonzalez at shortstop, Brandon Phillips at second base and Ryan
Freel in center," said Narron.
That leaves Griffey in right field -- if he doesn't begin the
season on the disabled list, which Narron acknowledged could be a
possibility if Griffey doesn't soon get into some exhibition games.
