DAYTON -- On average, Americans are spending more than they earn with the personal savings rate having dipped to negative 1 percent in 2006 -- the deepest hole since the Great Depression, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.

To bring attention to such trends, The American College is sponsoring "National Financial Awareness Day" today with instructors and alumni from across the nation planning to offer free personal consultations to consumers.

Locally, OneAmerica Securities on Crown Point Drive is opening their doors at 8:30 a.m. to area consumers.
