Article: Kong is king among dog toys For 30 years, manufacturer has given canines something lasting to chew on

If you think Kong is the last name of a movie gorilla, you don't have a dog. For those of us with hyperactive dogs and puppies, a Kong is a lifesaver. The hard plastic toy, which comes in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes, allows a dog owner to stuff goodies into the toy to keep a dog busy for hours. Few dogs will refuse them.

But it's not always easy to come up with new things to jam into the Kong to keep a dog's attention. For example, my dog has learned that two goodies jammed inside the Kong can be dislodged if she picks up the Kong and throws it down enough times. There is some canned gooey stuff you can buy to spray inside, but my dog doesn't appreciate it.

What's a mother to do?
