For the parents of David R. Brigham, the new director and CEO of the Dayton Art Institute, his first word must have been a surprise.

"My first word was 'clock," Brigham revealed with a chuckle while visiting Dayton in June, prior to beginning his position at the DAI scheduled for Aug. 20.
