Article: Getting recognized for perfect attendance, or not

The conversation about perfect attendance continues. It all began in June when some young people were congratulated for attending 12 years of school without missing a day.

As a result, at least two readers wrote to share that they were not recognized for perfect attendance because the school felt it might encourage students to come to school sick to preserve a record.

Mary Hartman, the mother of Jerry Hartman who attended Northmont High and the Montgomery County Joint Vocational School, graduating in 1982, thinks her son should have been recognized.
