I try to stay up on things. I call STDs STIs. I use that new
lavender-scented Tide. I don't get jealous when I see girls who are
thinner or cuter than me (marriage has a lot to do with that). I'll
throw myself off a cliff if my wistful smiles at seeing adolescent or
college-age girls ever give way to envious glares.
So even though I'm approaching the twilight of my 20s, I like to
think that I'm hanging on to an "I'm-OKyou're-OK" brand of cool.
But when I spotted the latest issue of Seventeen magazine while I
was standing in the checkout line, I was horrified at the cover
