HOW CAN you not enjoy Fashion Week? Fashion Week is how the world should be, all the time. Imagine if the people who run Fashion Week ran the world. Everyone would be in a much better mood. Forget about exporting democracy to Iraq. Forget about carpetbombing Afghanistan. Forget about squabbling over the foreshore. For that matter, forget about everything. I did. Fashion Week is the closest I've ever gotten to meditation, and I've met the Dalai Lama.

Last week, I had the blank grin of somebody whose brain has been scooped out whole. I was Homer Simpson beholding a donut.
