Article: Falls Church Council Votes to Put Broad Street Improvements on Ballot

In a rare bout of unanimity, the Falls Church City Council voted last week to place a controversial $2.6 million bond issue to improve the western portion of Broad Street (Route 7) on the Nov. 7 ballot.

That is not to say that they all agreed.

The decision means the council members' disagreement about how much work needs to be done on Broad Street west of Rowell Court will be settled on a different battleground. City voters, many of whom drive the busy east-west artery every day and know its traffic afflictions firsthand, will instead resolve the issue.
