On Valentine's Day, 1974, a memorable arrow struck my heart. My
recollection is cloudy as to who played Cupid, but the gentleman in
question actually believed me when I quipped that a food processor
would be greater testimony of his infatuation than a dozen roses.
My life has been blissfully whirring ever since.
It was a love affair from that night on-with the food processor,
that is. It accompanied me on vacation to Key West that year, and
was tucked in my carry-on when I temporarily moved to New York. It
has a permanent berth in my dishwasher, and I can't imagine a day in
which it would stand idle.
