Article: Dollmaker to sue after shattering arm at Arts Centre

A dust-up is brewing over the eviction of an injured dollmaker from the Christchurch Arts Centre.

Legacy Dolls owner Jan Herbert is taking legal action after slipping on flour and shattering her arm.

Unable to work on her craft for almost a year, Mrs Herbert is being turfed out of the Arts Centre for falling behind on the $1000 monthly rental.

She blames the Boulevard Bakehouse and the Arts Centre for causing the accident -- and now intends to sue.

Her lawyer, Hamish Evans, has written to the Arts Centre and Boulevard Bakehouse outlining a claim for exemplary damages based on alleged gross negligence.
