Article: First South Island degree course in architectural technology was long- awaited

After more than two years in development, Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology is offering the first degree course in architectural technology available in the South Island.

Programme co-ordinator Keith Power says the new three-year Bachelor of Design (Architectural Technology) has been long awaited.

Previously, people wanting to pursue a career in architectural technology to this level had no alternative but to study in the North Island.

While the Architectural Technology programme has had a positive report, final approval from NZQA is still pending. The course should be approved by the end of the month, says Keith Power.
