Tranz Scenic has been pulled up after staff on the TranzAlpine
train to the West Coast announced over the loud speaker that the
Government was to blame for its late arrival.
The popular tourist train has been delayed by one to two hours
daily for the last week because of new speed restrictions during warm
weather. Passengers on Tuesday were told it was the Government's
fault, and were urged to write letters of complaint.
Coast Road tourist operator Frank Ash said two of his American
guests emerged from the train frustrated at arriving so late, and
puzzled as to why they were being dragged into an argument with the
Government.
