A workout at Ashburton today may decide whether Christian Cullen's
brother, Julius Caesar, will head to Auckland for the Cardigan Bay
Stakes on December 31 for his race debut.
Julius Caesar won his second trial in succession at Ashburton last
Tuesday, being clocked by driver John Hay to run his last 800m in
56.8sec. By coincidence the second placegetter, In The Pocket
youngster Corky Romano, is a three- quarter brother to Courage Under
Fire with the Wayne Ross team.
"There is a race programmed for him at Addington on the 21st, but
the club is not confident it will get enough nominations to make a
race viable," trainer Brian O'Meara said of Julius Caesar.
