Charles Lewis told federal authorities two weeks ago that he and
D.C. Mayor Marion Barry smoked crack at the downtown Washington
Ramada Inn on several occasions last December and that they also used
cocaine together in the Virgin Islands, sources said yesterday.
Sources said at least one witness has corroborated an account
Lewis gave of the mayor smoking crack in the Virgin Islands in late
1987. Investigators are searching for witnesses to back up Lewis's
statement that Barry used crack at the Ramada Inn.
Lewis, a former D.C. personnel employee, agreed to be interviewed
by federal investigators earlier this month after insisting for
months that he had no information about any drug use by ...
