Article: Woman 'enraged' when 'sex victim' left for Australia

A middle-aged woman flew into a rage when the young man she is alleged to have molested left for Australia in 1997, the High Court in Christchurch was told yesterday.

Her alleged victim told the court he saw the move as "my ticket out".

The sexual violation complainant told Justice Panckhurst and a jury that he wished to quit the sport that had brought him into contact with the woman, break off the relationship, and get out of the country.

But his move triggered a reaction from the woman he had been staying with that surprised the young man's mother, who gave evidence yesterday.
