A professional, well-planned curriculum vitae is pretty much
essential in any job application these days, but the good old cover
letter should not be overlooked, writes MARY KIRK-ANDERSON.
Once upon a time the humble cover letter was all that was required
to apply for a job. Today it is only a part of the process, but its
importance remains.
It may not actually secure the job, but, done well, a cover letter
could get you an interview, or at least get the employer to open your
CV, and that can be a coup in itself.
