A six-evening introduction to social work as a profession in New
Zealand is being offered by the University of Canterbury Centre for
Continuing Education next term.
Social Work and Society, on Tuesday evenings from July 27, is
particularly designed for those considering social work as a career
or those who have just begun as volunteers or salaried workers.
Run by staff from the University's Social Work department, the
course will cover topics including the nature of social work
practice, cultural and gender issues in social work, and social work
education and training. It will not cover social work skills.
