A game of both brilliance and silly mistakes, that tested nerves
as well as patience, ended abruptly in the 11th inning tonight when
the Toronto Blue Jays pushed the Baltimore Orioles to the brink of
elimination from the American League East Division race with a 2-1
victory in front of a SkyDome record crowd of 49,636.
It ended after four tense hours when Lloyd Moseby drove home
Nelson Liriano with a two-out single off the left field wall.
Liriano was running for Manny Lee, who led off the inning with a
single.
It was a game the Orioles led, 1-0, for nearly eight innings, but
it ended in Toronto's 13th victory in 17 extra-inning games. And it
