Demoted MP Katherine Rich says she will continue her involvement
with welfare issues despite being dumped as National's spokeswoman on
the subject.
Rich spoke to The Press after a "hellish week" in which a
disagreement with her party leader saw her stripped of the welfare
portfolio and demoted from being National's only woman front bencher
to 10th in the pecking order.
Rich's new portfolio responsibilities of economic development, ACC
and finance would imply she would be talking money more than people
but her policy plans tell a different story. However, Rich's first
priority as associate finance spokeswoman was formulating a policy to
collect child support payments from absentee fathers.
