What makes a good cocktail? Mary Kirk-Anderson asks an expert.
When a cocktail list of your creation has been named the best-of-
the- best by a top industry magazine in Britain, it can't come easily
to go public with the worse cocktail you have ever made.
But when asked to reveal his darkest mixology moment, Andy
Lawrence, luxury-market manager for Lion Nathan and former London
cocktail guru, hesitates only a second or two.
"Looking back, there have been a few drinks that didn't work too
well, although I tend not to talk about them to too many people," he
admits. "I remember one, very early in my bartending career. It had
four or five different-coloured layers so it looked quite pretty, ...
